After a Stroke: 300 Tips for Making Life Easier is addressed to this wide audience. The author, a twelve-year stroke survivor and nurse, gives readers tips she learned and used herself during her recovery. She addresses topics such as communication, emotional liability, safety issues, personal care, relaxation techniques, and intimacy issues. The tips included in this book cover everything from dressing, hair care, cooking, and airline travel to using a computer and alleviating pain. Many activities that we take for granted can become a challenge after surviving a stroke. After a Stroke describes in detail how to accomplish daily living routines, combat fatigue, enjoy recreational activities, and how to turn stroke deficits into assets. The book frankly discusses self-esteem issues and using humor as a healing tool. No subject is off limits. Hutton leaves no gaps in relating what families and fellow stroke survivors need to know to live a full life post stroke. With over 300 tips to assist stroke survivors, this book offers tried and true methods for coping with the aftermath of a stroke. It is a very useful reference guide and can be read in sections depending on the reader's area of interest. The Tales of a Stroke Patient by Joyce Hoffman Summary

“I was up all night reading. I laughed, cried and my heart was touched. My friend recently began to ignore me and doesn’t want me to visit.... Your blog really made me see what a survivor sees and feel what they feel. Because of your willingness to share, I now know that I’m doing the right thing by hanging in there.” —Jada Thompson, a Reader “Oh Joyce.... Really touched my heart. There are no “happy words” to make this “better”. But you are facing it head-on, win or lose, and that says so much about your character.” —Anna Bofill, IT Professional “Takes my breath away. Women in Motion by Mary C. Short Summary

What started out as rhymes by a child has been turned into music by a woman. When I was a teenager, I did lots of rhymes, then I started writing poems and welcomes to help out for special events and occasions. My son told me that I could make money doing that, so I prayed about that and things started happening. Mary spends most of her day at Bank One as an executive food service worker. She is the mother of seven children, who range in age from 26 to 45, and has 16 grandchildren. One of her loves is basketball which she became attached to as part of the Greenbrier High School Girls Championship team. She still enjoys an occasional game with her children. Mary has been a member of St. Elizabeth Church in Louisville for 31 years. During her membership, she has been an adult Sunday school teacher, president of the usher board, and booking clerk. Although Mary has a way with words, she also has a way with caring. She is always on the lookout for those less fortunate. She helps people with disabilities that keep them from taking care of themselves. When you are doing things for others, you often do things that you wouldnt do for yourself. In 1997, Mary was promoted to commercial loan support specialist. On July 1, 2000, she remarried, and her last name became Short. this is my second spiritual inspirational book to be published.

Upon inadvertently discovering telepathic time travel, the rogue leader of a secret society of scientists threatens to re-write American history and virtually flip the world upside down with one cataclysmic stroke! When Professor Tony Shane discovers that his research has been stolen to further this monstrous terrorist threat, he and his young research associate, Andrea Martin, join a CIA mission to intervene. Intervention requires Shane to link telepathically with his young father, Daniel, in the summer of 1939. With the world on the brink of global war, Shane must guide Daniel through a bold attempt to rescue-or to kill-a brilliant Jewish atomic physicist in Hitler's grasp. While Shane and Daniel fall under the spell of an aggressive 1939 lover with mysterious designs, an alienated old flame must find a way to save the mission. Much of this suspenseful venture evolves during a nostalgic overnight transatlantic flight on a Pan American "flying boat," with darkly mysterious forces working at cross-purposes. Fateful events during the 1939 flight are paralleled by political brokering in modern times climaxing with a shocking, fateful confrontation between a stubborn American president and the charismatic leader of the secret society.
