Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone Summary

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet. Why would they? Anna's a sixteen-year-old in 1995, fiercely determined to secure a running scholarship so she can leave her quiet, dull town and finally travel the world. Bennett's a seventeen-year-old in 2012, living in San Francisco and trying to control his ability to travel through time - an incredible gift, but also an unpredictable curse, which constantly threatens to separate him from the people he loves. When a minor lapse in judgment puts his sister Brooke in danger, Bennett finds himself two thousand miles and seventeen years away - in Anna's world. As he searches for Brooke, Bennett is strangely and inescapably drawn to Anna, who feels sure she's seen him somewhere before. Through the gorgeous, mysterious newcomer, able to travel anywhere in a split second, Anna visits deserted tropical beaches and stunning mediterranean coastlines for the first time, and they can't help falling for one another. But they both know, deep down, that it can never last. For no matter how desperate Bennett is to stay with Anna, his uncontrollable condition will inevitably knock him right back to where he belongs - and Anna will be left to pick up the pieces.

Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone Summary

Calling Anna and Bennettâe(tm)s romance long distance is an understatement. Sheâe(tm)s from 1995 Chicago, and heâe(tm)s a time traveller from 2012 San Francisco. They never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all the odds. Itâe(tm)s not perfect, of course. Bennett is forced to skip parts of his own present in order to be with Anna in hers, and he's unable to stay in the past for more than brief periods of time. But they're sure they can make it work, somehow . . . until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen, and certainly never expected to. Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future that both Anna and Bennett are desperate to avoid?

The Time Between Us by Liam Kingsley,Preston Walker Summary

SKYLARThere are two things in this world I know to be true: I have terrible taste in men, and all alphas are jerks. Also, there tends to be a lot of overlap there. You'd think my own pack kicking me out would've been a clue to stay away from alphas. Omegas are rare. We're smaller, weaker, can't usually get pregnant...all valid reasons for disowning your own family, right? Like I said. Jerks. But it only took one night for stupidly handsome Troy Miyu to make me forget all the reasons I should've known better. One night to start falling for him, to realize it wasn't just amazing chemistry we shared, but a true mate bond. One night for him to leave me pregnant and alone. To make me swear off ever trusting an alpha again. Let alone him.But now he's back, and resisting my every attempt to keep him away from me - and the daughter I'm trying to hide. Alphas took my pack from me once, I'm not going to let one take my child too. Even if he's saying the words I would've given anything to hear once upon a time...that fairy tale's over. It's not about what I want anymore, its about what's best for my daughter. Then she starts showing signs of being an alpha herself. Needing things only her alpha father can give her. And I have to wonder...is it really her I'm trying to protect here?TROYAll my life, my parents have criticized me for not being responsible enough. I always told myself they're wrong...but its a little harder to deny when coming from the man I left behind.I wish I knew why I freaked out and ran years ago. Most people go their whole lives without finding their true mate. It should have been a blessing. But I was young and immature. So obsessed with being my own man, with refusing to let other people define me. Label me.Even when all they wanted to label me was lover. Mate. Partner. Now I'm trying my best to fix my greatest mistake, but he's as stubborn as I am. And with good reason. I know I hurt him. I'd give anything to take it back. But all I can do is move forward, and this time, I'm not going anywhere unless he's coming with me. This 50,000 word novel about true mates, mpreg, and second chances has a bumpy road on the way to that HEA, but if you're eighteen and up, come along for the ride!

A Time Between Ashes and Roses by Ali Ahmad Said Summary

In this noted anthology, the poet Adonis evokes the wisdom of Whitman’s Leaves of Grass (which he liberally excerpts and remolds), the modernism of William Carlos Williams, and the haunting urban imagery of Baudelaire, Cavafy, and Lorca. Three long poems allow him to explore profoundly the human condition, by examining language and love, race and favor, faith and dogma, war and ruin. In the lyrical "This Is My Name " and "Introduction to the History of the Petty Kings, " Adonis ponders Arab defeat and defeatism. In "A Grave for New York, " he focuses on Vietnam-era America. Originally published in 1970 to widespread acclaim, the collection has been reprinted often but has never before appeared in English. Enhanced by Shawkat M. Toorawa’s bilingual edition of the Arabic and English on facing pages, an afterword, and assisted by a critical bibliography of Adonis’s works, this book is a crucial reference for all students and scholars of modern and Middle Eastern poetry and culture. Noted Syrian intellectual Nasser Rabbat offers a compelling foreword.

The Sea Between Us by Penny Rae,Penny Tschappat Summary

Annie's inner conflict was spiraling out of control by her constant struggle with the memories of her past, her unceasing battle with her present, and ever looming dread and fear for her future. How could she find peace with all three? Each night, her dream always started out the same way. She was driving, and it was night. It was pitch black. They drove into the dark and depressing night, its blackness pressing in on them, surrounding and suffocating them until it felt as if there was no air left to breath. They were running from the piercing black that threatened to swallow them both. Then, without warning, the car in which Annie was driving was speeding up, and Annie couldn't stop it. She frantically stepped on the brake, but it only caused the car to dash faster and faster into the night. Then, she and the child and the car were falling into a black abyss, and Annie was reaching out for the small hand of the frightened child next to her. She groped around in the dark, touching the small fingers, but was never able to grasp them. And each time the dream or haunting occurred, Annie's nightmare brought with it more and more dread with an oncoming feeling of doom lurking in the shadows, until Annie found it as hard to be awake as it was to be asleep. And her terror mounted with each passing dream, until finally her past and her present collided, bringing to Annie something she never expected.

Subjectivity In-Between Times by Chenyang Wang Summary

This book is the first to systematically investigate how the notion of time is conceptualised in Jacques Lacan’s work. Through a careful examination of Lacan’s various presentations of time, Chenyang Wang argues that this notion is key to a comprehension of Lacan’s psychoanalytic thinking, and in particular to the way in which he theorises subjectivity. This book demonstrates that time is approached by Lacan not only as consciously experienced, but also as pre-reflectively embodied and symbolically generated. In an analysis that begins with Lacan’s “Logical Time” essay, Chenyang Wang articulates three temporal registers that correspond to Lacan's Real-Symbolic-Imaginary triad and also demonstrates how Lacan’s elaboration of other major themes including consciousness, body, language, desire and sexuality is informed by his original perspectives on time. Filling a significant gap in contemporary Lacanian studies, this book will provide essential reading for students and scholars of psychoanalytic theory, continental philosophy and critical theory.

Being in Time with Children by David Kuschner Summary

It's easy to think that our role as adults in our children's lives is all about teaching skills and guiding behaviors. Being In Time With Children offers a different perspective. In a series of thoughtful and at times humorous reflections, David Kuschner focuses on the wonder and mystery of the children with whom we have the privilege of spending time. Highlighting the importance of careful attention, reflection and respect, Being In Time With Children is about those moments in time we share with our children. "Drawing on his illustrious career as an early childhood educator, his experiences as a parent, and the wisdom of thinkers ranging from Shakespeare to Anne Lamott, David Kuschner provides much needed food for thought for teachers, parents, grandparents-actually anyone who interacts with children-as we consider how to nurture the next generation." -Ben Mardell, Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education
